Colleen and Andy were married under a mighty oak tree in Whitby, a special place from Colleen’s childhood. I worked with the couple to craft the most precious forever rings, full of meaning and symbolism to them both. The couple had adventures collecting sticks and bark for their bespoke wedding rings from the oak tree, sending me pictures to check in as they foraged! The whole process was joyful. I also guided them through utilising sentimental gold for the rings, which were made from a mixture of heirloom gold from both their grandparents. Making the story behind these rings even more beautiful. Colleen, who is a horticulturist, also opted to wear a 9ct gold hedgerow flower pendant from my collection on her special day, and Andy has since gifted her pieces of my work for their anniversary.

“I didn’t know it was possible to create such personal, bespoke and beautiful pieces of jewellery from nature’s bounty until we were introduced to Jessica by a friend. The oak tree has always held special sentiment to me which is why we decided to have our wedding ceremony under the old oak on my friend’s land. With Jessica’s incredible skill, we were able to use the bark from the oak for her to create and cast our totally unique wedding bands. The whole process was made incredibly easy and exciting thanks to Jessica guiding us through each step, such as sourcing the bark and deciding the ring style. Now, every time I look and feel the texture of my ring, I feel connected to that special place.

It’s also lovely to know that these rings are totally unique to us and our tree. Jessica was also able to make me a beautiful floral pendant cast from a tiny hawthorn flower. We were able to use our grandparents' old gold to make our new wedding bands and pendant which deepens the sentiment of these intricate pieces. Jess worked incredibly quickly as we were introduced to her very close to our wedding day, she also kept us reassuringly informed along the way.

I can’t recommend this service enough. It has been a wonderful experience working alongside Jess to commission our jewellery, allowing us to feel forever connected with our special place.

Because of the distance and time scales involved, all of my communication with Colleen and Andy was done digitally, but I still feel a strong connection to this beautiful couple and a sense of privilege to be part of their story. Since the wedding Andy has gifted Colleen pieces of my work for their anniversary, pieces that I know will be cherished within this lovely family. Treasuring stories really is at the heart of Cast & Found.
