We are committed to an ethical and sustainable approach when sourcing our materials
Metal
We are proud to use recycled metal for collection pieces, believing that we have a duty to first use materials already in circulation. All the metal we use is of the standard required by hallmarking guidance. You can read more about this common industry practice in our blog.
Although it is more complex and costly for us, we believe strongly in consumer choice, so offer our customers the opportunity to select the source of the metal we use in your custoe pieces under our Craete range. You can select to reuse your own gold or request us to work with Fairtrade/Fair Mined Gold when we create your custom pieces.
Around the world around 30 million people earn a livelihood from mining gold. They often do not receive a fair price for their gold and many of mining communities lack basic sanitation and access to safe drinking water. With poor housing conditions and little or no access to education and healthcare. We believe in fighting for transparency in metal supply chains, which makes it possible for consumers to know where and under what conditions the gold in their jewellery was mined.
Fairtrade certified gold comes from artisanal and small-scale mining organisations (ASMOs) that meet the Fairtrade Standard for Gold and Precious Metals. This means the gold has been responsibly mined and that the miners have received a Fairtrade Minimum Price and Premium, which assists social, environmental and economic development in the communities.
Fair mined certification signals that our gold and associated precious metals are mined from small-scale and artisanal mines that follow strict requirements for environmental protection, fair labour conditions, and economic development in mining communities. We do not currently carry our own certificate, but our metal supplier does. Please feel free to contact us for more information on the traceability of our metal.
