If you’ve ever heard the expression, “a robin appears when a lost loved one is here”, you’ll know exactly why I chose to include a robin ashes pendant in the memorial collection. A robin symbolises hope, renewal and rebirth. And of course, this red-breasted bird is the perfect Christmas present, given its seasonal appearance at this time of year, but this design is also carefully crafted to provide comfort and closeness, whatever the month.
For me, it’s a piece of jewellery that’s extremely close to my heart. The importance of capturing connections and being able to hold memories close became so important to me as a designer when I lost my own father aged just 21.
It was during my final year of my degree studying Jewellery Design, so not having him there on my graduation day was so sad but knowing he would never walk me down the aisle was even more painful. And that’s when I started to see how powerful jewellery can be in keeping love alive. My dad’s memory became the fire in my belly and spurred me on to create the memorial collection of ashes jewellery you see today.
Robin with silver breast ashes pendant
Taking a closer look at this piece, this little fellow is full of character, standing perkily to attention, with stunning feathers and detail captured in the 925 sterling silver. The beautiful detail means you can practically imagine his playful, jerky head movements as he hops along. It’s the perfect piece to remember those who loved birdwatching, gardening, nature or even the festive season.
This robin’s breast ingeniously opens up to allow the insertion of ashes to make this exquisite piece of jewellery even more beautiful as a memorial necklace. The pendant is then sealed by a heatless laser to allow this heirloom piece of jewellery to be preserved forever.
You can customise your bespoke piece further with a choice of four chain lengths, or choose a chainless option if you’d prefer to pensively hold your pendant in your hand instead, or display beautifully in your home. Memorial pendants are a beautiful talking point which keep your loved one’s memory alive every day.
